Point Dume Fire Community Brigade Volunteers
Protectors of Point Dume
Welcome to the Point Dume Fire Wise Community. A resource for our neighbors in Point Dume.
In the next disaster, we know it is highly likely "you are on your own."
This is why we will organize meetings to get to know our neighbors. We will vow to help each other. We will make home hardening and community hardening a priority for all.
Thank you for joining us - we are stronger together.
We are are not affiliated with LA County.
We are grateful for all who serve where and when they can.
This year we met on Saturday September 26, 2026 at 9 a.m. to organize and discuss preparation and training. To watch this meeting

Point Dume: Stronger and Better Prepared Together
A wildfire can change our plans quickly. The best time to learn your evacuation zone, reduce ember hazards around your home, and connect with a neighbor is before smoke is in the air.
Start with three steps today:
-
Know your zone. Look up your address at MalibuCity.org/Evac. Write down your zone and two possible routes. Routes depend on conditions; follow officials during an incident.
-
Get official alerts. Check and update your household's contact information through Malibu's Disaster Notification System. Do not rely on a neighbor text as your only warning.
-
Make your home less vulnerable to embers. Request the City's no-cost Home Wildfire Assessment. Start by clearing dry leaves and other easy-to-ignite material at the house.
Make a plan for every person and animal in your family. Keep medicines, documents, chargers, sturdy shoes, water, and pet supplies ready to take. Decide where you will meet if separated and who can help someone who needs extra time. On high fire danger days, consider leaving early if your household needs more time. If officials order an evacuation, leave immediately.
Neighbors help neighbors before an emergency.
Join a preparedness workshop, share resources with your block, and ask one neighbor whether they would like a voluntary check-in partner. Never enter a fire area, block an evacuation route, or delay your own departure to protect property.
About us: Point Dume Community Brigade is a neighbor-led effort to improve preparedness and connection. We are not affiliated with Los Angeles County. Official incident directions come from public safety agencies.

We have completed the criteria to be a nationally recognized Firewise USA Community.
A Firewise Community is a voluntary recognition program that provides a framework to help neighbors get organized, find direction, and take action to increase the ignition resistance of their homes.
By conducting an assessment, our community will have a detailed action plan to make it safer when disaster strikes.
An added benefit of becoming Firewise is the discount you receive on your homeowners' insurance. It has a cost savings of 10% per household.
